Teaching listening comprehension as a means of learners' communicative potential development

The article stresses the active nature of listening and its positive impact on the development of othercommunicative skills and suggests a specific approach in teaching an English course to the beginners at university. The author distinguishesbetween different types of listening comprehension in terms of the area of information application, depth of understandingand communicative aim. The conclusion is drawn that when this skill is practiced regularly the learners come to a successful oralcommunication and develop their communicative potential in general.
