Historical writing of «postmodernity»: some words about reasons of distrust in metanarratives and macrohistory

The article is devoted to the analysis of some crucial problems of the modern historicalwriting, such as adequate representation of reality and capability of the historian (by means of his narratives) for endow with meaning thefacts and events of the past. In itself, the discussion of this themes is not new. However in the ХХЛ century all this problems arose whithespecial power. Famous american historian H. White calls us to take into considerationon the following fact: after Holocaust (as well asafter two World War on the whole) any metanarative is virtually impossible because there is no way to explain the occurrence by virtue ofusual methods. The author of the article makes a conclusion that «postmodernism» in history is not immoral, as several its opponentsargue. On the contrary, it obliges us to see the problems which require the historian a heightened moral consciousness, when he proceedsto the study and writing of history of sublime catastrophes of the twentieth century.
