The role of a presiding judge in a jury trial when hearting a criminal case on the merits
The theoretical and practical problems of organizing and holding of a jury trial by a presiding judge are under consideration in the given article. Some questions relating to the role and powers of a professional judge in modern Russian criminal proceeding with the jury are being. It is pointed out that a judge being an impartial arbiter in a dispute is to some reasonable limits quite independent and active in both organizing the judicial examination and obtaining new evidence. The role of a presiding judge in marking the work of the people representatives - the jury - in the trial more effective is significant.
