The history of Ukrainian surnames derived from calendar names in Prokopievsk
The article investigates the formation of the Ukrainian surnames derived from calendar names in Prokopievsk. The analysis has shown that the majority of Ukrainian surnames were developing naturally through the patronymic stage. Baptismal names reflect language transformations in different epochs. A specific search of name forms most suitable for people's use was carried out.
