S.V. Smolensky as ateacher and founder of new school of Russian sacred music at Moscow Synodal College and Choir
In the article the new school in Russian Church music on the threshold of the 19-20 centuries is examined on the basis of the edition «Russian Church music: documents and releases». The founder of this school is S.V. Smolensky - director of Moscow Synodal College and Choir. He worked out a new approach to harmonization of ancient Church chants
