Synonymy as a linguistic mechanism of integration of borrowed concept Handy in the German language picture of the world

Thearticle deals with studying synonymy as one of linguistic mechanisms of integration of the borrowed concept Handy in the German languagepicture of the world. The linguistic nature of the concept assumes its fixedness at certain verbal means of representation which setforms corresponding with the lexical-semantic field constructed round the dominant, represented by the name of the concept. As a rule,to name the concept one should choose one of its keywords characterized by the following signs: general use, formation of phraseologicalfamilies on the basis of the given word, frequency of use, use of the given word in proverbs and set phrases, wide combinability. Theconducted research has shown that the lexeme das Handy corresponds to the listed requirements - native German speakers use it toname the mobile phone most often. The word das Handy has strongly got accustomed in modern German and become the basis for numerousnew names, which in most cases have the structure of a compound word. The evidence of the wide circulation of the lexeme dasHandy in German is that it is actively used in the modern German press for naming the new type of telecommunication. The lexicalsemanticfield is formed round the dominant. Its components are synonyms representing the concept Handy in the German languagepicture of the world. The abundance of the synonyms naming one concept in one area is an indicator of stability and importance of theconcept. The mobile phone playing an important role in interests and activity of the Germans has a great number of synonyms (bothlexical and phraseological, both complete and especially incomplete). Hence, from the positions of the linguistic culturology approach,synonymy is one of the ways of the concept Handy integration into the German language picture of the world. It also shows its importancefor German native speakers.
