Person in the light of the culinary code of culture

The article is devoted to a linguo-culturological description of figurative words and expressionswith culinary semantics. The research allows stating that culinary vocabulary is an active source of figurative denominations and figurativedescriptions of people and their qualities. Figurative culinary units take part in the creation of a persons language image and reflecta complex scenario of cooking and food absorption with the help of a system of their meanings. Figurative vocabulary realizes in itssemantics the simile of different objects in the surrounding world according to the principle of economy. As a rule, in the capacity offoundation of figurative characterization the phenomena referred to material life are used. Food is one of the most important and ancientcomponents of material culture being a necessary condition of humans existence. Culinary traditions, which were formed during a longperiod of time, give rich material for the analysis of mythological, religious views of a nation, social, historical, moral and everyday lifeexperience of people. According to many researchers the culinary code of culture is one of the basic, and the conceptual sphere FOODserves as a rich source of metaphorical interpretation of different spheres of reality, as means of metaphorical characterization of peopleand their qualities. In the article the role of culinary images in the expression of views on the person in the Russian language is analysed.The system of initial culinary images serves as a culture code with the help of which the person is interpreted and valued by nationalculturalcommunity. Perceiving the person in the light of the culinary code of culture allows presenting an integral language image ofthe person, it becomes apparent in the usage of culinary images for modelling different spheres of people life:- physiological: appearance (как тыква (head), миндалевидные (eyes), блинчатый (chin), калачиком, колбаской (about plaits),рюмочкой (waist), апельсиновая корка (skin); age перечница, сморчок and so on;- emotional: расквашенный, кваситься, постное (face), пресное (condition), насладиться and so on;- mental and speech: голова варит, несварение мозгов, створожить (thoughts), нашпигованный, раскусить, щелкать какорешки, глотать (books), молотить языком, процедить and so on;- moral: кровопийца, выкормыш; прихлебатель and so on;- social: знать как облупленного, съесть с потрохами, хлебнуть (about grief), подмаслить and so on.The activity of involving culinary figurative vocabulary in the processes of metaphorical anthropological sphere modelling demonstratesthe value significance of the gastronomic sphere in ordinary peoples life and also high culturological significance of the culinary codeof culture.
