The problem of Jan Dlugoszs and Maciej Stryjkowskis Russian annalistic sources in domestic and foreign historiography
East-Slavicannals were the most important sources of Polish historians of the late Middle Ages and Renaissance notions about history of Russianlands, first of all, those of Jan Dlugosz (the author of the 1480chronicle) and Maciej Stryjkowski (the author of the 1582chronicle) whoknew the Russian language and could become familiar with annals for creating their concepts of history of Rus first-hand. Researchersof the new and newest time have paid big attention to the question of reconstruction of Russian annalistic sources of the Polish historians- the conformity of "Russian" news with the annalistic relics that are still available at present is found in their works; assumptionsare made of use of the hypothetical annalistic code, which were then lost or became part of later editions of annals. K.N. Bestuzhev-Ryumin, A. Semkovich, A.A. Shakhmatov, E. Perfecki, I.A. Tikhomirov, M.N. Tikhomirov, N.N. Ulashchik, A.I. Rogov, Y.A. Limonov,B.M. Kloss, who represent scientific schools of Russia, Poland, Ukraine and Belarus, have made greatest contribution to studyingthis question. Researchers mentioned the annalistic code of West-Rus origin, which has not been preserved (the so-called "halicz" or"przemyski" annals) as a presumed source of Jan Dlugosz. It included the annalistic information reflected in other east-Slavic codes, aswell as information that was not confirmed by other annals. Researchers considered the annals of Lithuanian-Rus origin as a hypothetical source of Maciej Stryjkowski, which formed the basis for creation of the so-called Bychowiec "chronicle", and found reflection inYevreinovskaya, Rumyantsevskaya, Olshevskaya annals, and records of Racinski and Krasinski. Reconstruction of Russian annalisticsources of the Polish authors of the 15th and 16th centuries reveal the specificity of the annalistic monuments of the "Polish" and"Lithuanian" Russia, which has not been preserved, that reflected a special point of view regarding the history of Russian lands andaffected the views of the Polish historians.
