Populus х jrtyschensis Chang Y. Yang in the Altai-Sayan mountain country
The problem of hybridization in the genus Populus L. and the natural crossing of P. laurifolia (sect. Tacamahaca) and P. nigra (sect. Aigeiros) in the places of overlapping of their range are considered. Based on the collection of P.N. Krylov Herbarium (TK), the geography of the distribution of P. х jrtyschensis in the Altai-Sayan mountainous country was specified. Study of morphological features of P. х jrtyschensis and parental species are presented. It has been established that the character of the ribbing of elongated shoots of offspring, the types of shortened shoots in the crown, the location of generative buds are the important features for identification of hybrid.
