The Mission of the Journal

Imagology and Comparative Studies is Russia's first academic periodical on the issues of comparative studies of literature and culture. It aims at uniting the efforts of Russian and international scholars in the research of international literary connections and provides a platform for discussing topical problems of the methodology of comparative studies, the history of literary connections, world literature. A special purpose of the Journal is to develop imagology, an interdisciplinary academic field that studies images of regions, countries, peoples in native and foreign cultural environments. The Editorial Board hopes to make a contribution to overcoming mutual myths and phobias and strengthening international integration.

The Journal welcome articles from related fields of the humanities: comparative cultural studies, history, sociology and political science, as, originally, comparative studies is an interdisciplinary field. A holistic view on international contacts is a necessary basis for the understanding of the place and specificity of literary transfer.

The Journal is published in Russian with abstracts in English, but the international Editorial Board accepts submissions in other European languages and is ready to assist authors in the translation of texts into Russian. Articles in English are published in the original.
