USING «CONSTRUCTED WETLANDS» TECHNOLOGY FOR WASTEWATER TREATMENT IN SMALL COMMUNITIES AND ENTERPRISES
Today ecological engineering offers one of the most perspective technologies for wastewater treatment called "constructed wetlands" treatment systems. "Constructed wetlands " are artificial wetlands used as wastewater treatment plants which rely upon natural microbial, biological, physical and chemical processes to treat wastewater with minimal economic costs. In recent years numerous researches have covered various aspects of using «constructed wetlands» such as the role of wetland vegetation and its species in systems, using different types of substrate, vegetation management. All this aspects can influence increasing the system's efficiency in wastewater treatment. Based on the analysed literature one can conclude that the described technology is a successful alternative to standard methods of wastewater treatment. Further researches can extend the field of possible applications and the area of distribution of this unique «constructed wetlands» technology.
