Clarivate has released the 2024 update to the Journal Citation Reports (JCR). The reports provide a comprehensive resource of high-quality journals, ranked by field to enable academic institutions, researchers and publishers to gauge the significance of journals in the global research landscape.

Only journals that have met the rigorous quality standards for inclusion in the Web of Science Core Collection are featured within the Journal Citation Reports, to ensure that users can confidently rely on the information and descriptive data provided. The annual reports provide a rich array of publisher–independent data, metrics and analysis to enhance user understanding of journal performance, including the widely recognised Journal Impact Factor (JIF) and the Journal Citation Indicator.

Note that 544 scientific journals received a Journal Impact Factor for the first time. Among them, 381 journals are classified as WoS from Russia. In turn, the Tomsk State University Journal of Biology previously indexed in WoS entered Q4 (IF=0.4) in biology and ecology.

We develop and improve each issue, expanding the scope of the published manuscripts and geographical diversity of researchers , as well as attracting new reviewers for more detailed and high-quality analysis of received papers. Today we have blind peer reviewing and 2-3 reviewers for a paper. We improve manuscript presentation and modern digital identifiers (doi).

The issues are not delayed and become immediately available both for Authors and Readers. 

Authors hold full rights on the article and can place PDF versions on any resources. 

All publications are on a non-commercial basis. 

In 2014 the Editorial Board tried to attract foreign researchers to publishing in the Journal. The English part of the articles was significantly expanded and improved: translation of all tables, figures, reference lists and well-structured full summary. All this may encourage foreign researchers to cite the articles of our Journal. 

We will continue to improve the quality of the Journal and, along with that, expect our authors to be honest and follow basic rules while writing a scientific paper (COPE), which will lead to a more rapid publication of research results and greater information exchange.

The “Guide for Authors” has been transformed and improved: the rules of manuscript presentation and submission have been changed. For your convenience, a unified form of “Cover letter” has been designed. In “Instructions for Authors” a required summary structure has been clarified: relevance, aim, materials and methods, results, conclusion and acknowledgments. You can also find a number of links to the recommendations how to write a scientific paper for successful publication. An obligatory condition for Authors is to transform references to National Library of Medicine style after submitting.
