Ecological and faunistic review of the coleopterous (Insecta, Coleoptera) dendrophagans of the Priketye conifer forests (Tomsk oblast)

The work is aimed at characterizing the species diversity and the ecological featuresof the group of the coleopterous insects dominating among phytophagans in the Priketyeconifer forests, which is one of the most forested regions of Tomsk Oblast located in thenorth-east of the area. The region, on the whole, is notable for the domineering coniferousand a great diversity of forests, with Pinus sylvestris L., Pinus sibirica Du Tour,Abies sibirica Ledeb. and Picea obovata Ledeb. being domineering species. The physicogeographicalconditions of the region are favourable for reproduction of coleopterousinsects in weakened stands on oversaturated soils, in forests exploited with violation ofthe logging technology, in fire-damaged stands as well as in the locus of the rot diseases.Increased numbers of the dendrophagous insects are observed in timber store-houses,wood processing plants and in sites of transporting timber beyond the region includingthe countries importing Russian timber, in which a number of coleopterous phytophagansliving in the Priketye forests are objects of a forest quarantine.The investigations were conducted in 2001-2009. The conventional methods of thepathology investigation of the forest were used when the material was being collected:route examination of the forests; analysis of model trees of various conifer species for insectinvasion in sample areas in the forests; analysis of the quarantine forest materials.The total volume of the material collected and studied was 2,780 samples of beetles.The article is supplied with an annotated list of 60 species of the coleopterous familiesBuprestidae, Bostrichidae, Cerambycidae, Curculionidae and Scolytidae feeding onthe trunk tissues of the coniferous. The list contains information on their spread in TomskOblast and some original data on the Priketye location and ecology. For the first time,17 species have been indicated for the region studied: Buprestis octoguttata, Anthaxiaquadripunctata, Stephanopachys substriatus, Tragosoma depsarium, Acmaeops marginatus,A. septentrionis, A. smaragdulus, Gnathacmaeops pratensis, Anastrangalis sequensi,Pronocera sibirica, Semanotus undatus, Monochamus saltuarius, Acanthocinusgriceus, Pissodes piniphilus, P. harcyniae, Hylastes opacus, Pityogenes irkutensis. Longhornedbeetles Pronocera sibirica and Semanotus undatus have been found in TomskOblast for the first time.
