Use of special knowledge in investigation of crimes
The traditional methods of identification of unidentified bodies include identification by a set of attributes, portrait, portrait phototechnical and portrait videotechnical examination, where the basis for the identification of the person is a comparative study of their features. In addition, the identification of unidentified bodies can also include identification by skeletal remains - a complex, but very informative method. It should be recognized that the widely used traditional methods of identification does not always lead to concrete results. Investigation of crimes may require scientific development and introduction of new methods that are currently referred to as unconventional, i.e. non-recognized methods of person's identification. Thus, unconventional methods of identification are increasingly used for the detection and investigation of crimes, thereby expanding the range of possible expert studies. Investigation practice knows many examples of non-standard identification methods that contributed to the detection and investigation of crimes. Unconventional human identification methods include electrocardiography, abdominal identification, dermatoglyphics, as well as methods in which the objects of study are nail plates of the fingers, the lower jaw, the mucous membrane of the hard palate, the back surface of the tongue and others. Thus, in spite of having a sufficiently powerful arsenal of traditional methods of identification of the person, it can be concluded that in order to solve the problem of the effective use of the developed traditional identification methods, they must be used along with the new unconventional methods of identification. With regard to dermatoglyphics, it is new, non-traditional, non-invasive and cost-effective. Using dermatoglyphics methods in forensic activities for human identification has broad prospects.
