The Effect of People's Income on Crime (A Case Study of the Southern and North Caucasian Federal Districts)
The authors employ the correlation analysis to calculate a matrix of coefficients of pairwise linear correlation between indicators on the number of crimes and incomes of the population. The data for 2017 were considered for the following 15 regions: North Caucasus Federal District (Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, Karachay-Cherkess Republic, Republic of Dagestan, Republic of Ingushetia, Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, Stavropol Territory, Chechen Republic) and Southern Federal District (Astrakhan region, Volgograd region, Sevastopol, Rostov region, Krasnodar Territory, Republic of Adygea, Republic of Kalmykia, Republic of Crimea). The aim is to identify the direction and interconnection between the number of crimes in these regions and the income level of the population, as well as to obtain a statistically significant model of the interconnection between indicators.
