Research model «World museum of Siberia»

The article is devoted to a vital issue of the Russian museum studies, namely, the development of the regional historiography of museology. The aim is to perfect the terminology and create universal research models that would allow us to conduct complex studies of the museum environment in its historical dynamics. The article presents the author's model «Museum world in Siberia» as a combination of environments (material, intellectual, and communication) historically developed or currently developing and adapting to the changes at the regional, country, and international levels. The material environment is based on the historical-cultural and natural heritage, specially protected areas, museum objects, museums, and museum-type facilities. Museum as a socio-cultural and glocal (combining local and global dimensions) institute is a backbone element and a dynamic core of the regional museum world. Taking into account the inherent structural and functional specificities and principles (traditional and innovative) of the composition of museum articles, we suggest to consider the museum world in Siberia as a multilevel concentric system that includes reserve museums, museum associations, departmental and administrative-territorial museum networks, museum-type facilities, socio-cultural environment in Siberia, Russian museum world, world cultural environment, and information and telecommunication environment. To make the study of the material environment of the museum world in Siberia more efficient, the model applies the widely used in the world division of museums into humanitarian, art, science, scientific-technical, and field museums, and the Russian classification of museums according to branches and characteristics crucial in terms of functioning of the museum network. To determine the level of diversification of the regional museum network, a system of museum profilization based on their specialty areas is used. When one applies an adaptation approach for assessing the nature and the level of integration of a museum into a regional socio-cultural environment, one takes into consideration the regulatory classification of museums by the types of property and the prevailing type of conserved and actualized objects of heritage. On the whole, the research model «Museum world in Siberia» is universal in nature and may be used for structuring and studying the museum world on a scale of the country and particular territories, for developing a cultural policy in the museum environment, and for writing the papers on the history of museum studies in Siberia.
