Words of encouragement to institution whose anniversary is celebrated

Congratulating the chair of library and information activities of TSU on its tenth anniversary Yu.N. Stolyarov passes on symbolical baton from the senior generation to the present one. Personal example of the author shows that it is important to realize the vocation in life and to devote oneself to favourite affair. So, the children's desire to become the reader later turned out for the author into entering Library institute which atmosphere strengthened his desire to study exactly there. From here the first precept of the author results - to love the profession irrespective of which way you have come to it. If you don't love it, the more so it won't be loved by your students. With appreciation the author remembers the professors; many of them were for him teachers, mentors, and subsequently also friends. He marks out those who make a cohort of outstanding scientists of our country - B.S. Bodnarsky, O.S. Chubaryan, Z.N. Ambartsumyan, I.M. Frumin, L.V. Belyakov, E.M. Naglovskaya, L.A. Levin, A.D. Eykhengolts. Practically all legendary persons of the profession are people close to the author with whom the fortune brought him together at chair, in library or in a ministerial office. Among them are also such leading figures of domestic library science as O.P. Korshunov, R.S. Gilyarevsky, A.V. Sokolov, V.S. Krey-denko, A.N. Vaneev. Be bright, creative natures, and you will be surrounded by the same unselfish and betrayed to science and teaching people. The author is especially grateful to his research supervisor Yu.V. Grigoriev, who was at that time the only professor of library science in the USSR. One of the main precepts of the teacher which the author reports also to us - one is not teacher who isn't able to inform to students clearly and convincingly results of his scientific research. But to a greater extent one is not teacher who only broadcasts achievements of other authors without having anything of his own inside his heart. Knowledge which is both one's own and acquired have to be combined organically in the teacher; he has to be able to investigate, and to be speaker at the same time, or he is not the professional of the higher school. Teachers of the chair celebrating the decade need to be published in the central scientific periodical press for more wide range of library scientific community could know about their research. As the last words of encouragement the author urges to love students, whatever negligent they are. The good attitude towards the student helps development of his abilities and talents. The author wishes to heroes of the anniversary to have good pupils, great creative achievements and good health.
