Academic course «Orthodox libraries» in the education of specialists in library sphere (from the experience of the Institute of Arts and Culture in Tomsk State University)
Orthodox libraries have always been an important part of Russian culture. At the moment the desire to open the library in the churches and monasteries often found with a number of questions: how to organize the space in library, form its foundation, to create a reference and search tools. Also often require additional knowledge to work with the funds of the literature on religion in secular libraries. Therefore, the necessary specialists, able to give competent answers to all these questions. Response to the demand for qualified specialists is the inclusion in the curricula of education devoted Orthodox libraries. Study of the subject begins with the general characteristics of the Orthodox libraries. Disclosed topics such as their concept and types; sources for their study; specific structure of the Orthodox literature; subject matter, composition, principles of accounting and funds; development of reference and search tools; used in libraries table classification of documents; rules for the preparation of bibliographic records; methods of work with readers. Next in chronological order sets out the main milestones in the history of the Orthodox libraries. The course examines topics such as the Siberian Orthodox libraries, Old Believers book culture, the publishing the Russian Orthodox Church, the Orthodox periodicals, professional and personal requirements for employees Orthodox libraries. Special attention is given to libraries Tomsk Metropolitanate. Independent research, presentation at the conference promotes the formation of the students' ability to analyze socially significant phenomena and processes that contribute to the education of respect for the cultural heritage and traditions. Thus, currently before the Orthodox libraries faced with some problems - how to teach the reader to navigate in the increased flow of religious literature, using the latest technology to promote education and spiritual and moral education of the readers; to develop the best traditions of the Orthodox libraries. We hope that the knowledge acquired by students will contribute to this.
