The peculiarities of modern scientific information flow and the resulting problems for a research library as the element in the scholar communication system are shown. Possible to identify some common features of new forms of scientific publications: electronic communications are developing in all scientific areas, they are largely shaped by traditional publishing culture, the majority of electronic documents continues to be a scientific texts, but also includes multimedia technology and network tools. Clustering is made of materials that many documents have been included in certain groups, which requires a search strategy and selection. Electronic resources have new qualities: the satisfaction of a wide range of information needs, the ease of use of resources readers may retrospective content, access to resources for users not only from the library building. At the same time, the management of electronic resources selected for the library collection, complicated management of traditional resources, since freedom in the organization of electronic resources, their use and storage can be significantly limited by various conditions: availability, archiving capabilities, licensing regime and so on. Rapidly developing types and kinds of scientific publications in the electronic environment affect the entire system of scholarly communication, that is, and research libraries. The library environment changes significantly under the influence of electronic resources.
