On the thereshold of another great anniversary. The Fryderyk Chopin Institute' s library collection
The activities of cultural institutions are informed by anniversaries determined by the calendar of their patrons' lives. Such is the case with the Fryderyk Chopin Institute in Warsaw. Its fundamental objectives include cultivating the memory of Fryderyk Chopin, carrying out research aimed at expanding our knowledge of his person and his work, popularising his music, and seeking, gathering, securing and making available objects connected with him. The collection held in the Institute Library, together with the treasures of Polish national heritage assembled in the composer's museum, is the largest Chopin collection in the world, reflecting the current state of research in the field of Chopin studies and providing access to an exhaustive Chopin bibliography and discography, source materials and a whole range of scholarly information.
