BIM technology and simulation of system dougong for architectural monuments of ancient China
This article gives a brief history of ancient Chinese architecture of the Tang Dynasty and the Song Dynasty. During these periods in China mainly built of wood and structures remained very small, it makes especially urgent to develop models of existing buildings and structures today for subsequent reconstruction and restoration, and museification, and thus preserve the cultural heritage data epochs. Traditions of wooden architecture of the Tang Dynasty had tremendous influence on all further construction in China. To create the model , we chose the gazebo in the monastery Huaishengsi in Guangzhou . This gazebo is located in the park of the monastery and has a memorial purpose: in the center is placed a memorial plaque with the history of the monastery. For choosing a computer program for modeling , it was decided to work in technology BIM, for not just repeat the geometry of the object, but also take into account the materials and their properties , as well as specify the components of the gazebo for monitoring. Virtually all major structures of the Middle and Far East dougong system was used so that the modeling in Revit , we started it with it. Dougong system - the most important element in Chinese architecture . Its main tasks - to support removal of the roof of the building , connecting the supporting pillars and beams tying tiers, as well as transfer the load from the roof beams and at the column . Due to its complex structure such elements significantly reduced the probability of destruction of a building as a result of strong winds or earthquakes . We present some of the main terms of dougong and show the formation of a system of individual parts dougong. For the research, we first created libraries of basic elements of the system and more than 200 parametric families of dougong. To test these parametric families was chosen temple Shengmudian, which was build more than 900 years. It was important when created dougong were used by different types. For modeling the temple created not only dougong families, but other structural elements. Computer models, which were made by using BIM technology developed library elements dougong, now allow to simulate almost any monument of ancient Chinese architecture. At the same time, such a model not only makes the whole space of the monument visually accessible, but also allows you to specify the components of the structure for the purpose of collection management, status monitoring and building control its operation.
