Organization of the main fund libraries and analysis of its physical condition

The work deals with the organization of the main fund of the Scientific Library of Tomsk State University - the first university library of Siberia library fund which contains 3.85 million documents with chronological coverage from the 16th century to the present. The article describes the history of the organization of the library fund, called the main stages of its optimization, reflects the main sources of revenue for the Fund, its qualitative composition, accounting, types of setups used in the scientific library, physical condition. The novelty of the material is to describe the organization by type of fund documents, some of its collections, the number of members, the location of the stacks and the current state. Characterized by practical experience in the study of the physical condition of the main fund of the Scientific Library. The method and the procedure for obtaining data on the physical security of documents (books) general fund, identified the main purpose of the analysis, the participants of this study identified, described in detail the process of assessing the physical condition of the fund. The paper published the results of analysis of the physical condition of the documents, experience the results of the data obtained in the course of the study, described the priority directions of the main library fund, including making a backup electronic copies of documents from the traditional paper-based. Work is of interest for those interested in the history of librarianship and modern trends in the organization of the classification and preservation of unique library collections.
