Preservation of the Bulgarian musical folklore heritage

The cultural heritage, with a particular importance for the people is their folk music. Specific measures for the preservation and spreading of the valuable examples of the Bulgarian folk music art are: - The recording and writing in notes of folk songs; - The inclusion of many folk songs in the textbooks of music for the secondary school; - The use in authors' compositions; - The concerts of the folk performers - singers and instrumentalists, professional folk choir orchestras, amateur choirs and chamber formations; - The access of the outstanding folk performers to the national broadcast media; - The annual international folk festivals in the larger Bulgarian cities - Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, Veliko Tarnovo; - The theoretical research. Bulgarian folk music through the ages has been an indispensable companion of our people. Even during 500 years of Ottoman rule folk music had an important role in the preservation of the Bulgarian ethnos. That is why we, Bulgarians, are obliged to respect, love and honor the valuable samples of their music folklore.
