Religios department libraries in the Siberian-far eastern region in 1990s - early 2000s

Restoring peoples' spiritual, historical and moral values is a task of libraries. A special role in solving this problem belongs to religious department libraries, which revival began in the late XX century. In 1990s the old churches began actively restoring, new ones were built, Sunday schools and other relevant institutions were opened. The Russian Orthodox Church has been given the task of population religious education, which is impossible without ecclesiastical writing and edifying literature, hence, without libraries as storages and translators of secular knowledge. Libraries as cultural-educational and information institutions contribute to the process of regeneration forming relevant collections and uncovering their content for users, bringing people morality, humanity, faith understanding and religious tolerance. The article contains a brief description of the Orthodox church libraries (in Novosibirsk Region), seminaries, religious schools, faculties, where religious department staff is training (Tomsk, Vladivostok, Yakutsk, Khabarovsk, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk), which revived their activities in Siberia and the Far East, as well as madrassas (Omsk, Novosibirsk, Tobolsk) and datsans (Republic of Buryatia) in 1990s - early 2000s. The historical experience shows, if various structures of religious institutions, including libraries, are not confined to the religious sphere, but sought contact with the people, their activities contribute to the society spiritual development.
