The practice of restoration and using of the Kazan Church of the Ilim Stockaded Town in the museum «Taltsy»

Kazan church of Ilimsk Fortress is the only cultural object of the XVII century in Siberia. There is enough information about it from various sources since the XVII century. Kazan church was rebuilt several times. In the context of architectural Kazan church had a rare volume-spatial composition in which the leading role played dynamic and increased carcass altar. It was a one-storey wooden building with a compact square log cabin under the roof in which there was a temple. In the 60s of the XXth century the Ust-Ilim hydroelectric power station was constructed and Kazan Church fell into the flood zone. Then the expedition of experts to survey the unique wooden architecture was organized. In 1969 based on the work of the expedition the decision of the transport of the church to Museum of Wooden Architecture "Taltsy" near Irkutsk was taken. In 1970 the church was transported to museum. Restoration of the Church of the museum was from 1989 to 1991. Moscow architect G.G. Oranskaya's project was used. During the restoration of the church G.G. Oranskaya set the task of restoration of the church in its original form except for the following additions and alterations. Modern research has shown that in G.G. Oranskaya's draft there are some deviations from the original appearance of the temple. So G.G. Oranskaya designed ceiling from rolling logs. However, initially served as a ceiling roof of the temple on the slopes of which were situated icons on canvas apparently brought from Tobolsk. The side door has not been replaced by the window as it was originally. Finally, to achieve the original appearance of the church is possible to continue the work on the refurbishment of it. To date, in church the interior of the end of the XVII century is represented and the church is as part of the exposition of Angara-Ilim exposition area of the museum.
