Document databases on culture and art

Document databases (DBs) are a perspective part of information resources. The conceptual basis of the subject includes the standardized and author's terms and definitions. The ratio of some concepts is specified. The analysis of six DBs gave the following results. «Digital Library: Dissertations» of Russian State Library (RSL) is full - text universal DB of limited access. Conformity to declared chronological limits, considerable volume of dissertations and abstracts (836 200 from 1944), prevalence of documents in Russian language, convenience of search of necessary texts and their need of "scrolling pages'' (PDF format) are revealed. Branch open access Corporate full- text DB "The central libraries of territorial subjects of the Russian Federation" of National Library of Russia contains unpublished documents, limited editions, audiovisual and electronic documents (1714 from 2002). Documents in PDF, DOC, DOCX formats required for granting in established periods acquaint with all activities of regional libraries (activity reports of the central library and regional libraries' overviews etc.) and materials sent by libraries at discretion. The analysis of documents of Siberian Federal District's libraries showed their participation in DBs and revealed quantitative characteristics of scientific and compiling activity. Untimeliness of some documents' providing and different approaches to their structure and the contents are noted. The search of documents is both mixed and factual. Bibliographic DBs belong to DBs of free access. Diversified DB «Union catalog of unpublished documents and other information materials on culture and art» of Scientific information center on culture and art (SIC InformKultura ) RSL reflects primary and secondary published, unpublished and also audiovisual and electronic documents (7574 for 2001-2015). It is replenished 4 times a year. Part of bibliographic descriptions is supplemented with annotations. Branch DB of Russian State Art Library «Drama» includes 44490 entries on the published primary documents (literary- art and production - practical) from the late XVII century - 1923, 1996-2015. Monthly adjunction. Descriptions are accompanied with annotations and/or keywords. Both DBs are polylingual. Referral-bibliographical DB of open access «Museum business. Museology» and «Protection of cultural heritage» of SIC Informkultura reflect native and foreign documents: published and unpublished documents of different purpose, and also bibliographical tools. DBs are replenished 6 times a year. Ways of the bibliographic characteristic: annotation (67-70%), description (22-30%), abstracts (1-2%). Need of instructions with detailed explanations of features of the search in bibliographic and referral-bibliographical DBs is noted. It is possible to state provision of specialists' activity of many fields in culture with all types of qualitative document DBs.
