Preservation of document collections libraries (for example of the Irkutsk Regional State Universal Scientific library n.a. I.I. Molchanov-Sibirsky)

Document fund of libraries are a historical and cultural value, they focus rare unique documents, save that necessary for present and future generations. Currently ensuring the integrity of the bond Fund is a complex and often intractable problem. About a third of the holdings of the major libraries - the Russian state library, Russian national library - is in critical condition. A similar situation exists in most libraries Buryatia. Today part of the collections of the municipal library of the Republic of morally outdated. The degree of their upgrades extremely low (1.4 per cent) that does not meet international standards, according to which it should be in the range of 5-10 per cent. In the libraries due to insufficient budgetary financing there are gaps, the number of disposal of the books in 2,4 times higher than new arrivals. It is worth considering the experience of the Irkutsk regional state universal scientific library I.I. Molchanov-Sibirsky (IGOB) for safety of funds. With the move to the new building (2012) library has strengthened the material and technical base: in a ten-storey building has several elevators, ventilation and air-conditioning, automatic fire. Delivery of documents to the user by using a mobile transport system (MTS) production company "TELELIFT" (Germany). Implemented and used technology radio frequency identification (RFID) storage units and library cards with the mechanism of anti-theft protection. Of particular concern for library staff is the state of preservation of rare books, local history documents. For the purpose of saving the created database "Rare book", is the digitization of the Fund. Note that JOHANB developed strategic directions to ensure the integrity of the Fund. So, on the program "Preservation of library Fund JOHANB" in 2000 created the Regional centre for conservation and restoration of library collections. In the structure of several departments: the Bindery Department, sector of hygiene book funds, the sector of restoration, laboratory digitize and microfilm, which carry out a variety of activities on recovery of lost properties of the document, cleaning and disinfection, binding, translation valuable and old publications in electronic form. Thus, the experience of the Irkutsk regional state universal scientific library I.I. Molchanov-Sibirsky could serve as an example for libraries of other regions in the field of preservation of the Fund.
