Actualization of ethnocultural heritage of the Mansi people in the Centre of traditional folklife culture of the middle Urals (the city of Yekaterinburg)

The range of definitions of the term "cultural heritage" is wide and diverse. Cultural heritage means the unity of objects that constitute a person's environment and that are accepted to be cultural values on the basis of humanity's cultural experience and its preferences. Cultural heritage is a complex concept that includes both material and non-material components, as well as natural, digital heritage and cultural landscapes. Enthnocultural peoples' heritage (or peoples' cultural heritage) is a constituent part of all the mentioned components. These terms mean both material and non-material values formulated by the ethnical culture and closely inherent in natural environment, that are conveyed on the intergenerational level. Ethnic values broadcast during the life in the traditional culture. Their paramount importance was realized and stood out in a special sphere - ritual. It was located in the most sacred part of the space - the sacred place - and presupposes the existence of specific individuals with the functions of managers and custodians. However, there were no special institutions for the preservation and transmission of basic information, including rules and values. In modern conditions the described translation mechanism of ethno-cultural heritage largely lost its force. Institutions performing the functions of generation and preservation of cultural heritage are cultural institutions now. The article analyzes the activities of the Centre of traditional folklife culture of the Middle Urals (the city of Yekaterinburg). Five brunches of activity of the Centre of traditional folklife culture of the middle Urals have been accentuated and analysed in the context of actualization of ethnocultural heritage of the Mansi people. These brunches are the following: expeditionary, exploratory, project-oriented, exhibitional and publishing ones. The Center personnel have a positive experience in planning and carrying out expeditions, in elaborating issue-related expositions, in running research-to-practice conferences and in summarizing the results of their research work on these conferences, in implementation of cultural and educational programs, in project and publishing activities. The Centre elaborates the projects that actualize both material and non-material cultural heritage of the region's innate residents. As a result of the research, the following conclusion has been drawn: Yekaterinburg has a widespread experience of cultural heritage actualization of the innate peoples living on the territory of the Sverdlovsk Region. In the Centre of traditional folklife culture of the middle Urals successfully implement complex events that favour traditional culture revival, preservation and popularization of the Mansi people's ethnocultural heritage.
