Folklor tendencies of the soviet ideological poster
The authors reveal the connection between the Soviet agitation poster of ideological content and folklore. The article demonstrates the growing interest for this kind of art in the modern world of culture, along with the topicality of the agitation poster for the Russia of the third millennium. Examination is given to a variety of posters and Internet sources devoted to the art; strong cultural and historical ties between the Russian and Soviet posters are asserted, as well as the distinctive character and high cultural importance of the Soviet poster artists from the 1918-1940 period. A special part is held by the analysis and revealing of such signs of folklorism in the Russian-Soviet poster of the WWI, the first years of the Soviet rule and Great Patriotic War (1941-1945) as connections with the genre of lubok prints and verbal folk art genres - bylina, fairy tale, fable, joke, proverbs and adages. Of particular interest is the parallel between the lubok poster and the images of Russian saints and heroes of the Russian history. A special place is given in the article to the work of the artists from “Windows of the Russian Telegraph Agency” (aka “ROSTA windows”), “TASS windows ” and “Fighting pencil”, their contribution to the establishment of the Soviet rule and rise of patriotism during the Great Patriotic War.
