The author appeals to the unstudied history on formation and activities of Tomsk department of the Commission for the study of October revolution history and Russian Communist Party (Bolsheviks) (RCP(b)), known as Tomsk Istpart. Now it is known that Istpart was part of the agitation-propaganda department in Tomsk province / district Committee of RCP(b). It had a certain autonomy as a subsection. During 1920-s leaders of Tomsk Istpart were Martsinkovsky, Volfovitch, Oletsky, Dzhuravskhy, and others. N.N. Bakai, head of Tomsk Provincial Archives, took place in work of Istpart as well. The staff of Tomsk Istpart collected the memories of Revolution 1917 and Civil War participants. Employees of district and county Communist Party committees helped them to identify the documents, attracted the veterans of the revolution to collecting of photos and other memorials of the revolutionary years. In 1920-s materials of Tomsk Istpart were published in the newspaper "Krasnoe Znamya", in the magazine "The Past of Siberia" and in the book "The way of Struggle". In 1923 Istpart organized an exhibition of its collections in the hall of Tomsk regional museum.
