Historical and cultural heritage of the Magadan region in expositions of the provincial museums (1990-2000s)

The purpose of article to show a role of the provincial museums of the Magadan region in preservation of historical and cultural heritage of local community, on the example of activity of the museum "Memory of Kolyma" in the settlement Yagodnoe and the local hall of history in the settlement of Ust-Omchug. Tasks of article include the analysis of results of socially important activity of the museums, a contribution of employees to the organization and distribution of local work of history, representation of history of the region. As a result of a research the author has come to the following conclusions: on border of XX-XXI of centuries the network of cultural institutions of the periphery of the Magadan region begins to increase at the expense of the museums opened on a voluntary basis. The significant role in this process was played by enthusiasm and creative potential of local amateur historians. On October 30, 1994 the museum "Memory of Kolyma", its founder I.A. Panikarov is organized. On February 28, 1996 under the leadership of I.V. Gribanova the local history hall is organized in the settlement of Ust-Omchug. The research of historical and natural heritage, material and cultural richness of the North-East has been executed in the form of expeditions to places of activity of the liquidated camps, settlements, the enterprises. Results of the conducted researches have been published in the form of articles in periodicals, separate brochures and books. On the basis of processing of collected materials, the analysis of archival documents, scientific publications, regular cooperation with scientific and cultural institutions of the country the unique museum collection on stories of the Magadan region has been created. The important role in formation of funds was played by gifts from locals. Funds of the museums include collections of rare books on a regional subject, the photo about life of people of the North in 1930-1950s, household goods and uses of the camp, personal things of prisoners, biographic materials. The created funds promoted realization of the exposition and exhibition direction. Data on history of development of the North-East of Russia, activity of the state trust "Dalstroy", labor camps in 1930-1950s, social and economic development, education and the culture of the region in 1930-1990s are reflected in expositions. For participation of the population in studying of history of the Magadan region, expansion of audience of the museum thematic exhibitions, public lectures, conversations in cultural and educational institutions were organized. Cultural and mass work promoted public awareness of local history knowledge among the population, to formation of a full picture about the historical past of edge its natural resources, life locals of Kolyma, to development of patriotism, continuity of regional traditions which remains popular at negative indicators of processes of migration of the Magadan region of the last decades.
