Impatience of the heart": interpretation and reinterpretation
The article presents an art history analysis of a musical parable in five scenes with Prologue and Epilogue by Sergei Anikienko "Impatience of the Heart" (2012), created based on the novel of the same name by Stefan Zweig, and a libretto written by Ekaterina Prikhodovskaya. It is emphasized that the fact that the author of the libretto is simultaneously a professional composer determines the inevitable contradiction between the intention of the librettist, whose verbal text is based on the laws of opera dramaturgy, and its implementation in the process of composer reflection, which is inevitable for the creative tandem of S. Anikienko - E. Prikhodovskaya. The questions of correspondence of the conflicting centers of the original source and the text representing its reinterpretation are raised. In this regard, the study includes a number of interpretations of the novel by S. Zweig, presented at the level of cinema and theatrical productions. In general, art criticism analytics by S. Zweig's novel "Impatience of the Heart" and the eponymous musical parable are carried out against the background of N. Karamzin's novel "Poor Lisa", as well as its interpretations and reinterpretations. An appeal to the animation "Poor Liza" by I. Garanina (1978), the one-act opera by L. Desyatnikov "Poor Liza" (1976), choreography by A. Sigalova, staged to the music of the opera by L. Desyatnikov (2009), as well as an adaptation of the novel by N. Karamzin S. Zuckerman (2000) promotes a deeper understanding of the epigraph sent by Zweig to his novel. Focusing on the two types of compassion in the epigraph - pity-based self-superiority and active sympathy, S. Zweig exposes the conflict center of his novel, which is the focus of the research optics of the authors of the article, revealing the meaning of the musical parable as a new synthetic artistic whole. The latter demonstrates the experience of reconciling the contradictions between the librettist and the composer, in the framework of which the musical parable "Impatience of the Heart" by S. Anikienko and E. Prikhodovskaya is a reinterpretation of the original source, actualizing a new perspective in revealing the main idea of S. Zweig's only finished novel. The perspective of disclosure of this idea is caused by a genre of the parable and also a remark of the composer and leveling of a reality in matters of time and scenes of action. Such approach gives to the story the extent of generalization characteristic of the myth.
