Anthropology of work in a corpus perspective (based on the materials of a collection of miners’ narratives)

Despite the active interest of corpus research in the various aspects of folk history, we can identify a gap in the corpus study of professional cultures. The need to fill this gap determines the relevance of our work, which is devoted to the collection and computer systematization of miners’ narratives. The significance of research on mining culture is determined primarily by its place in the cultural and economic processes of the 20th century. Mining culture is one of the markers of the Soviet industrialization, ideology and urbanization. The corpus being developed is organized as an automated information system based on a set of miners’ narratives. Its fundamental characteristics are openness to the addition of new texts and accessibility to a wide user audience. The main object of the corpus description is the miners’ narrative, i.e. the text produced by the bearers of the mining culture. The corpus selects materials about the mining culture of the 20th-21 st centuries in order to trace its changes throughout the entire period of the domestic industrial economy - from the early industrial to the late industrial stage. In its original form, the corpus is formed on the materials from Perm Krai and the corresponding administrative-territorial units of the 20th century. The balance of the corpus is achieved by taking into account the sources that differ in the form of presentation (written, oral), the type of authorship (individual, collective), the purpose of creation (official, unofficial), the affiliation (workers of different specializations, positions, enterprises, cities, regions), the time of creation (Soviet and post-Soviet), the nature of existence (professional community, family), the method of recording (manuscripts, printed text, electronic text), the format of recording (notebooks, newspapers, Internet correspondence, etc.), the nature of collection (field, archival, office). Thus, a broad approach to the material will provide the most complete picture of what the mining culture was and is like in personal and collective representations, in private and public implementations, in single, rare and widespread manifestations.
