The meaning of the soviet children’s song about friendship as a tool for forming schoolchildren’s academic achievement: semantics of children’s songs
This study is devoted to the analysis of the Soviet children’s song about friendship as a tool that can improve peer relationships in the classroom and therefore positively affect children’s academic performance. The relevance of the work is due to the fact that in the modern digital world, children tend to communicate virtually rather than in real life. Such conditions create challenges for their socialization. Since numerous domestic and foreign studies such as works of L.O. Gallardo, L.T. Jacobson, A.V. Nevzorova etc. show a direct link between successful integration into one’s school peer community and one’s academic achievements, the search for effective methods of class cohesion is extremely important nowadays. The article proves that the joint performance of Soviet friendship songs is a useful form of collective activity, which contributes the improvement of children’s relationships in the class. This article provides semantic analysis of the texts of popular songs (such as “It’s fun to walk together”, “Friendship is strong”, “Song of Friends”, etc.), in which, as a result, their powerful educational potential is revealed. The analysis shows that they form children’s understanding of friendship as a value based on mutual assistance, loyalty and joint overcoming of difficulties and obstacles. The unity of the content is reinforced by the appropriate musical form - the prevailing marching rhythm creates a sense of a common path, unites the team and energizes it, which is theoretically justified by references to the works of B.V. Asafiev and D.B. Kabalevsky. Based on the analysis, practical steps are proposed to integrate these songs into the learning process on a lesson. In music lessons, children’s joint learning and performance becomes an act of collective creativity, and using compositions as musical accompaniment for short warmup sessions in other subjects during the lesson helps to relieve tension, create a positive atmosphere and realize the connection of music with movement according to the method of E. Jacques-Dalcroze. Thus, the work not only rehabilitates the didactic value of the Soviet children’s song, but also offers specific tools for teachers aimed at socializing students and indirectly improving their academic performance through strengthening their peer relationship. The authors declare no conflicts of interests.
