Metaphors with thermal change semantics: cultural-linguistic and cognitiveanalyses
The article examines a metaphorical text fragmenttaken from the Russian linguistic world-image, where metaphorical naming units with the semantics ofthermal change serve to describe physiological phenomena. Three metaphorical models have beendistinguished: 1) physiological existence; 2) physiological state (pain (illness), hunger, etc.); 3) physiologicalreactions to external and internal forces. The principle of the metaphorical models' generationis the uniformity of initial and resultant predicative meanings used to characterize various phenomenaof physiological sphere. Cognitive linguistics and structural-semantic linguistics provided methodologicalbasis for this research.
