«Stories» N.O. Kotlubitskogo as a historical source for the study of the political regime, Russian Emperor Paul I
Information opportunities of notes of Lieutenant-General and the Adjutant General of the Russian Emperor Paul I, N.O. Kotlubitskogo, which is not widely used in modern research practice, were researched. His stories have a special place in domestic memoirs, because of the figure of the author, who was closely associated to Pavel Petrovich from 1793 to 1801. He was close acquaintance with Pavel in the period of Crown Prince isolation at Gatchina and made a brilliant career and was retired from service by Alexander I in twenty-six years. It was discovered, that many cases Emperor life have been distorted, and many authors of scientific papers used these cases in this distorted form, not considering it necessary to look critically. A number of case studies, showing the circumstances of their future fraud, in particular, stories about the attitude of Paul to "cases of honor", serfdom, corporal punishment, empire building, the Orthodox Church and the Orthodox values, was analyzed.
