Umrevinsky gold silver wire copecks during the reign of Peter I: experience study of metal
The Umrevinsky ostrog is the archeological monument of the period of the Russian development of Siberia (founded in 1703) that is located in Moshkovo district, Novosibirsk region, by in the influx of the Umreva river into the Ob river. In the course of the archeological research conducted in 2008, the treasure including silver wiry kopecks of the time of Peter the Great was discovered. The discovery of such a treasure is the only precedent in the Novosibirsk Ob Region. Currently, the numismatic findings made on the territory of the archeological monuments of the Russian development of Siberia are not sufficiently covered by researchers, so the demonstration of a high information potential of this type of sources is a relevant task. This work resolves two separate tasks: 1) assessment of possibilities and peculiarities of the elementary analysis method based on energy-dispersive spectrometry (EDX), and 2) study of the makeup of the alloy of the coins contained in the Umrevinsky Treasure and correlation of the obtained data and the results of the treasure research received before. Both tasks are regarded as relevant. The abovementioned method was not applied for studying the numismatic collections of the 17- 18 centuries, which had originated from the Siberian region. The received data can also be used by studying metallic products of other regions and epochs. The systematic study of the makeup of the alloy of the coins of the 17-18centuries from the Siberian region has not been conducted yet. The obtained results allow assessing the boundaries of the information potential of this period. One discovered a certain dependency between the composition of the alloy of a coin and the mint where this coin was stricken. No other essential dependencies between the characteristics of the coin allow and coins (mint date, stamp of the heads and verso, coin weight, thermal impact signs (molten bulging state of coins)) were discovered, which is related both to the lack of any obvious regularities and to the fact the treasure preservation is relatively poor, which did not allow attributing most coins. One identified some possibilities, restrictions, and problems of the elementary analysis method based on energy-dispersive spectrometry (EDX). The study of the composition of the coin alloy and correlation of these data with other results of the research allow expanding the information potential of the source.
