The set of students in higher technical school of Siberia at the end of the 1950s - the first half of the 1960s
The article deals with the problem of recruitment of students in the higher technical school of Siberia at the end of the 1950s - the first half of the 1960s. On the basis of documentary materials of regional archives, including the first time taken into scientific circulation, the analysis of measures to ensure the recruitment of students in the new order of recruitment of higher education institutions. This was due to the implementation of the Law of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR "On strengthening the school's connection with life". It is noted that in the Siberian technical universities of those years teaching staff, public organizations and students were involved in this work. They used a variety of forms: open days, subject olympiads among students, speeches of employees and graduates in the media, the establishment of links with enterprises on the direction of the universities of tours of the best manufacturers. Attention is paid to the organization of pre-university training of students and working youth. To prepare young workers for entrance exams at universities and enterprises of regions and regions of the region were organized training courses. Great help to industrial enterprises was provided by students of technical universities, who conducted classes with production workers. The author proves that the involvement of industrial enterprises, collective and state farms in the acquisition of educational institutions contributed to the increase in the number of students on vouchers of state farms, collective farms and enterprises. As a result of the measures taken, the influx of young people from production has increased significantly. Many students-production workers not only studied well, but also contributed to the revitalization of social life. At the same time, as the study showed, the practice of higher technical school in the period under review, revealed some shortcomings of the new admission. They consisted in the fact that among the students were often young people, insufficiently prepared to study at the university. This led to certain difficulties in the work of technical universities teams, primarily associated with a decrease in performance among students-production. The article argues that subsequently required a significant adjustment of the course. In 1965, the Ministry of Education of the USSR developed new rules for admission to universities. A distinctive feature of these rules was to increase the requirements for admission of students and working youth to universities, including technical profile. The main requirement, which was imposed to applicants, is deep and strong knowledge. This gave a great opportunity to attract well-trained young people to the institutions. The table gives an idea of the social composition of first-year students of full-time departments of technical universities of Siberia in 1959-1965.
