Construction committee for the construction of buildings of the Siberian university in Tomsk in the memoirs and letters of contemporaries

The purpose of this article is, firstly, the reconstruction of the internal history of the Construction Committee for the construction of buildings of the Siberian University. Secondly, the study of conflicts that arose between members of the Construction Committee in the process of organizing the construction of the University buildings. The analysis of the development of these conflicts, as well as the ways out of the existing contradictions between the members of the Committee was conducted. The object of the study is the history of the organization and construction of the first University in the Asian part of Russia. The subject of the study is the relationship between the members of the Construction Committee for the construction of buildings of the Siberian University in Tomsk. To solve this problem, the office documentation of the Construction Committee was analyzed, as well as a wide range of sources of personal origin. The main vectors of relations between the members of the Committee were identified, the causes of contradictions between them, as well as ways to resolve conflicts were studied. The result was converted into a single concept of development of relations between the members of the Construction Committee. The final part of the study assesses the impact of interpersonal relations on the construction of the Siberian University. As a source base of the article it is necessary to highlight, firstly, the journals of the Construction Committee, stored in the Department of manuscripts and book monuments of the Scientific Library of TSU, which made it possible to reconstruct the official history of this body. Secondly, for the first time the correspondence of the member of the Construction Committee from the Ministry of Public Education V.M. Florinsky with the clerk of the Construction Committee, architect P.P. Naranovich and Chairman of the Committee V.I. Mertsalov entered into scientific circulation. Thirdly, the memories of V.M. Florinsky and V.I. Mertsalov, stored in the V.M. Florinsky Fund in the National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan, which allowed to reveal the internal mechanisms of the Construction Committee. The author of the article concluded that in the course of the work of the Construction Committee, there were complex relations between its members with each other, which often resulted in personal dislike. Certainly, they affected the course of construction work. Nevertheless, by the time of the completion of the erection of the buildings of the Siberian University, most of these contradictions were leveled, in many respects this was due to the wise and far-sighted policies of the organizer of the Siberian University, V.M. Florinsky, who, being a member of the Construction Committee from the Ministry of Public Education, not only strove to smooth out conflicts within the committee, but also tried to prevent them in advance.
