Educational and pedagogical activity of G.E. Katanaev in the context of development of ideas of Siberian regionalism
The article is devoted to the analysis of educational and pedagogical activity of G.E. Katanaev in Siberia of the second half of the 19th century in the context of development of the ideas of the Siberian regionalism. The author notes that in a scientific discourse the thought of close interrelation of education and study of local lore became stronger long ago. It is emphasized that the content of education not only is defined by conditions of the social environment of the territory (region), but at the same time forms this environment. Therefore studying of educational texts (textbooks) for a research of regional identity is represented quite competent. The purpose of article is definition of a contribution of G.E. Katanaev to conceptual formation and development of the regionalism idea of “concentric homeland studies”. For achievement of a goal the following problems are solved: - considerations of history of formation of the theory of “concentric homeland studies” as one of basic elements of the conceptual idea of the Siberian regionalism; - definitions of extent of “inclusion” in the system of regional outlook of educational views of G.E. Katanaev; - identifications and studying of a concrete and event context of pedagogical activity of G.E. Katanaev as attempts of implementation of the regional idea of education (enlightenment). In article it is noted that “imperial” consciousness, according to the Siberian regionalists, levels all local features and interests and that only the full-fledged feeling of the small homeland can make for the person a reality and his belonging to the big Homeland. The ideas of a concentric studying of the homeland were directed to education of feelings of “local” patriotism and understanding of value of own culture. “Concentric circles” from the cultural and educational point of view allowed to form ethnocultural consciousness of the people consistently. The theory of “ concentric homeland studies” defined that “sociocultural development of the multinational state is possible with development of its certain sociocultural worlds”. The analysis of educational and pedagogical activity of G.E. Katanaev in the context of development of the ideas of the Siberian regionalism allows the author of this article to draw the following conclusions: 1) Ideologists of regionalism made the significant contribution to development of a system of national education. In fact, Siberian regionalists began the development of a new concept of national school which purpose was a formation of civil patriotic consciousness; 2) The pedagogical value of the idea of “concentric homeland studies” consisted in education at pupils of “conscious” patriotism, and student teaching of “concentric homeland studies” was directed to formation of “psychological bases of nature of future regionalist”; 3) G.E. Katanaev played a big role in conceptual development of the idea of “concentric homeland studies” (as “basis of formation of world outlook bases of provincial culture”) and, especially, in its implementation.
