Mountain Shoriya ethnocoltural patchwork
Review of monograph “Mountain Shoriya: from ancient metallurgy to modern mining industry. Historical sketches” (Published by Primula, 2020) by A. I. Kopytov and V. M. Kimeyev. The review states, that the monograph profoundly researches issue of traditional culture elements and industrial community’s coexistence. The book reveals mechanisms of actualization of traditional culture of Siberian indigenous people, Shorians. The monograph looks carefully on ways of neotraditional reconstruction of ethnic culture, the depth of its penetration into Shorian society, researches role of city-based ethnic elites in its creation. Research shows historical connections between ancient ways of mining in the territory and modern development of Kuzbass and explains the place of industrial society in ethnic patchwork of Mountain Shoriya.
