Internationalization of education and algorithms for academic exchange (on the experience of Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics)

The article is devoted to one of the aspects of internationalization of education - the perception of a new environment by students on the example of the Tomsk University of Control Systems and Radio Electronics (TUSUR). Within the framework of the axiological-value approach, the formation of personal meanings in the context of internationalization is based on cognitive a priori attitudes, preliminary ideas about the goal of activity (image of the future), proper (quality), desired and acceptable (environment). The article examines the ratio of these components in relation to the motivation of foreign students in the educational environment. In the process of internationalization, the individual’s value system is relevant as predictors of intercultural dialogue. In Russia, respect for the rights of peoples and equality of national cultures were adopted back in the Soviet period, the principles of equality within the framework of civil society and interculturalism have become today the basis of interethnic communication. This is a good prospect for various forms of international cooperation, and TUSUR has a reputation as a friendly multinational university. At the same time, in the period of increasing competition between educational institutions, the importance of positioning the university, its rating, which contains objective measurable information, grows. The TUSUR brand is known primarily as an innovative technical university that has close ties with new types of enterprises. In the fall semester of 2020, the university conducted a questionnaire survey of foreign students studying at TUSUR, representatives of the near and far abroad, in an online format using Google forms. The study involved a total of 71 people, of whom 47 were from the near abroad, and 24 from the non-CIS states. According to the survey, the respondents’ assessment of the satisfaction level with the quality of education was noted as good and high (89% of foreign students were sure of this). The most talented foreign students, already at the stage of study, are attracted to the research teams of departments to participate in group project training. So today more than 2,000 foreign students study at TUSUR, of which 126 people are employed, both in the university environment and at high-tech enterprises, including TUSUR’s strategic partners within the educational-scientific-innovative complex. The most important algorithms for internationalization are: 1) The choice of the “environment” of learning; 2) positive intercultural interaction; 3) practical orientation, participation in projects, career growth.
