Conflicts in Indochina and Lao PDR’s Entry into ASEAN (1975-1997)

The article examines the policy of the Lao PDR in connection with the conflict in Cambodia and the Sino-Vietnamese conflict, the influence of the Lao-Vietnamese alliance on Vientiane's relations with ASEAN. The author emphasizes that the reduction of conflict in Indochina at the end of the Cold War was the main prerequisite for Laos' accession to ASEAN. The author declares no conflicts of interests.
