About History and Historians: Interview with B.S. Zhigalov
Boris Stepanovich Zhigalov, historian, Associate Professor of the Department of Modern, Contemporary History and International Relations, Tomsk State University, has been working at the university for more than 60 years. On the eve of his 90th birthday, he is answering questions from colleagues about the history and profession of a historian, the features of the scientific school, the life at the faculty in different historical periods. Zhigalov points out that the most important thing in the university teacher’s work is an interaction with students. He reckons that a professional historian should rely solely on documents and facts and considers curiosity to be one of the main incentives in research work. B. S. Zhigalov’s reflections are an important indication of the development of the Department of Modern, Contemporary History and International Relations and the Faculty of Historical and Political Sciences in the second half of the 20th -early 21st centuries. The authors declare no conflicts of interests.
