Karim Idelguzhin about Bashkir troops and the struggle for power in 1917-1919
The article is devoted to the Russian army in the twentieth century and the participation of the Bashkir component in it. It analyze the materials of the famous public and political figure Karim Idelguzhin, extracted from the collections of tow archives and National library of the Republic of Bashkortostan, transliterated from Arabic and translated from Bashkir into Russian. His works are a vivid indicator of social and political thought of the Bashkir national movement leaders, who did not emigrate after the Civil war, but devoted themselves to serving the Motherland here. Idelguzhin Karim Abdullovich (1895-1937), was taught in known throughout the Asian part of Russia madrasah "Galiya", served in the Russian army and participated in the First world war, then as a non-commissioned officer and scrivener in the Bashkir cavalry regiment, member of the republican newspapers, Bashkir revolutionary committee’s commissioner, military Commissioner of the cantons, the People's Commissar of education of the Bashkir ASSR, Deputy Director of the pedagogical Institute. Most of his works remained unpublished, preserved in manuscript form, interesting to a wide audience as a source of additional information about one of the most difficult periods in the history of our state. Three of them - "Remembrance - Participation of Bashkirs on Aktobe front (1919)" - 12 pages of Arabic script, written in 1929; "Remembrance of formation of Bashkir units of the Red Army. 1919" - (in bash.) 23 pages of Arabic script; "Organization of Bashkir autonomy and transition to the Soviets side" (in bash.) - are devoted to a specific topic. They have great accuracy in the information presented and the description of the events described, are not subject to political conjuncture, are not cleaned out by literary editors, are not touched by censorship. Despite some progress on the issue of the problem in the Central and regional historiography, but none of them were devoted to or reviewed by K. A. Idelguzhin. The authors believe that this is due to the inaccessibility of materials to a wide audience of researchers, as well as their safety in Arabica. Comparative and contrastive analysis of K. A. Idelguzhin’s article showed that he admitted a number of inaccuracies in facts. It does not deviate from then established and now accepted by the majority of authors interpretation of them as direct links in the chain of Bashkir’s movement to autonomy. At the same time, the decision to move, like all other sociopolitical movements of Bashkirs, was not the intention of the leaders, and was based on the opinion of the population, and in this case - the Bashkir army. K. Idelguzhin draws the attention to the fact that initially the transience of events and sharp changeability of reality is not given even the opportunity to the Bashkirs to realize them, then - as the leaders of the movement and the population supported them, have become wary, their actions become thoughtful, but always purposeful. The authors declare no conflicts of interests.
