Features of training of scientific brainpowers by the use of correspondence postgraduate study at TomskState University (1930s-80 years)
The training of part-time postgraduate students atTSU was begun in 1939 after the foundation of the institution of a part-time postgraduate study in the USSR, with its role in the system oftraining of the scientific staff being insignificant for a long time. Further development of part-time postgraduate school was had back by theoutbreak of Great Patriotic war when admission to a postgraduate school was stopped. In the after of the war this form of training researcheswas not paid due attention to. In the 1960s-1980s there was a substantial growth of a number of part-time postgraduate students at TSU. Itwas explained by the universitys role as a basic institution for the training of the teaching staff and researches on the territory of Siberia andthe Far East. The number of places at postgraduate school accessible to the university teachers as well as those from other higher schools ofSiberia was growing considerably due to the policy of the Ministry of Higher Education. The principles of the organization of the work of thepart-time and full-time postgraduate schools did not differ. Postgraduate students were expected to pass degree examinations and submitthesis. The term of training for part-time postgraduate students was extended to 4 years as they were to combine work and studies. Besidesthey were freed from having practical training as teachers. In the 1960s-1980s TSU became a basic institution in Siberia for the training ofthe teaching staff and researches through the system of a part-time postgraduate school despite its rather low efficiency and a number ofproblems in its work.
