Methodological and empirical aspects of studying of regional Siberian identity in information field ofregional mass-media
Electronic archives of the regional media of the past few years are needed tobe investigated from the perspective of historical source studies with application of the latest achievements of humanities. However, theenormous volume of information in contemporary media brings forth the problem of source and methodological abridgement for selection ofthe media messages. In the course of solving this issue, the author assumed that on the eve of big, highly anticipated events, media areespecially impregnated with constructs of mass consciousness. The latest of these sorts of events in the history of Tomsk was the German-Russian summit that took place in 2006. Before the summit (in March 2006) the reflection on the negative and positive aspects of the city hasbeen activated. The investigation of discourses of regional media allowed the author to make a conclusion that from the point of view ofinformational content and authenticity of interpretation, there are five optimum key notes to be determined: 1. Positively eulogistic (thatstates successes, has eulogistic and grateful intonations, and lacks conflicts of interest and critique); 2. Constructive-critical (that promises tosolve the problems, overcome the troubles, take into consideration the critique and improve the situation, contains aspiration for compromise, authority warnings with promises to defend the citizens); 3. Conflict - the main topic of which is conflicts of interests, lack of any strive forcompromise, mutual rebukes, lack of certainty in the ways to solve the problem); 4. Negative-pessimistic (contains one sided critique andhopeless condemnation; absence or conceptual recurrence of the idea of clash of interests); 5. Neutral (contains lack of emotionally loadedwords or phrases in the message). Simultaneously, one message can have only one emotional key note as reflection of comprehensiveimpression of the text (gestalt). The article investigates the interconnection of emotional key notes in the messages with different types ofpsycho-social identity. For this purpose the works of E. Erikson, J.Habermas, E.Goffman, D.J.De Levita, J.C.Turner, J.E.Marcia, D.Raphael,H.G. Xelowski, A.S. Waterman, P.D. Fogelson were utilized. The peculiarities of discursive practices of description of Siberian region withdifferent foreign countries have been analyzed. It is proved that the image of the region and the processes of its construction andtransformation appear to be multifaceted and ambiguous phenomena that includes contradictions and draws different components forregional self-determination from another regions. In comparison with the image of the region and images of different countries in the sameinformational field and spheres of life, there is a chance for coexistence of opposite intentions of regional identity. In general the Siberianregional identity as a main essential character of Siberia that differs it from other regions and countries, is positioned as having a colossal butyet unsolicited potential for development.
