About history of steamer «Campañía de Filipinas»

Virtually all studies about insurrect thePhilippines provides information about the formation of the Philippine revolutionary navy. As a rule, the authors when they refer to AdmiralDewey's memories, or Filipino leader Aguinaldo, speaking about "armed ship Campania de Filipinas. Meanwhile, information about itsweaponry is not confirmed by other sources, and in addition, in the history of the Philippine Tobacco Company (La Compañía General deTabacos de Filipinas) and the Imperial Japanese Navy is also referred to a ship of the same name, so that the uninitiated reader may be giventhe impression that only had three steamer "Campania de Filipinas." July 1, 1890 Scottish company "Lobnits" of Glasgow launched the smallpassenger vessel with an iron hull, named by name it ordered the tobacco company, "Campana de Filipinas." The vessel was designed forshort-sea shipping between Aparri (northern Luzon), and Manila. The bulk of the cargo was tobacco, which is further from Manila bound forEurope and America. The steamer toiled for the benefit of their masters to the start of the Spanish-American War. On July 3 ship mutiny, inwhich the ship joined the Philippine Revolutionary Forces. There is evidence that on the steamer found guns from the ex-Spanish ships sunkin Manila. However, later in the fate of the French government intervened steamer that required to equate the armed ship to the pirates,because of which the Filipinos had to be disarmed. In this regard, "Compania de Filipinas," attended the operations of Philippine insurgentswithout weapons. Most part was reduced to planting landings. In August 1898 the ship was in Aparri due to lack of coal, where he waseventually taken over by the U.S. administration. During the Second World War, the ship joined the Japanese fleet in July 1945, sunk byAmerican aircraft. Conclusions. 1. Information about the armed steamer "Campania de Filipinas" Aguinaldos insurgents is not totally real,but it had no practical significance, since the ship was quickly disarmed under the pressure of the French side. 2. Information on the steamer"Campania de Filipinas," which is found in the history of the Philippine Tobacco Company, the Philippine Revolutionary Navy and theImperial Japanese Navy belongs to the same vessel.
