The first pedagogical courses in Tomsk region in 1881

The paper deals with the firsteverpedagogical courses in Tomskaya Guberniya. They were held 130 years ago in 1881 in Tomsk. The issue of periodization of the firstteachers courses, of the time when the formation of the system of the advanced vocational training for teachers took place is debatable. Forto find out the truth the author turned to the publications and documents from the State Archive of Tomskaya Oblast. Thanks to the paper ofF.F. Shamahov The System of the Course Training of Teachers of the Elementary and Higher Elementary School in the PrerevolutionaryWestern Siberia and researches it became possible to find out the sources which contain the information about the first teachers courses inTomsk. Using the data from these sources as a basis the paper sheds light upon the difficulties in the arrangement of the courses, representstheir program, the role which the curator of the courses, the director of Tomsk Gubernial Classical School B.I. Stsiborskiy, played in them,represents the attitude of teachers to the courses. Its mentioned in the conclusion of the paper that the first pedagogical courses in TomskayaGubernia were successful, they were attended by more than 50 pedagogues; the program of the courses was very current for the pedagoguesof the basic vocational education institutions. Thus, the first pedagogical courses in Western Siberia appeared to be the reflection of theobjective need of public education for the professional development of teachers at the end of the 19th century. The courses established thetraditions of the system of advanced vocational training, which transforms and continue its existence in the 21st century.
