Eurasian aspect in the folk heritage of G.N. Potanin
The article is devoted to thehistory and folklore research of G.N. Potanin and captures the essence of his "the Eastern hypothesis." The author analyzes the culturalexchange between East and West as an example of historical and ethnographic heritage of the scientist, who is credited with introducing thewide circulation of many samples of Asian folklore.The scientist distinguishes Siberia and Central Asia to the region, which became theancestral home of Euro-Asian peoples and the epicenter of the develop their culture, thus pushing the Eurasian model of civilization. Thearticle gives examples of convergence of European and Asian epics and way of transfer prairies' legends in Europe, carried out legendssimilar to the names of characters and plots of the oral poetry of the Turk-Mongol tribes and peoples of Europe in the writings of G.N.Potanin.
